Ubisoft has released 308 an interesting new video with several minutes of gameplay of Splinter Cell Blacklist where we see different game modes (stealth to suicidal action) and which shows, again, the futility of night vision goggles in their Different variables (temperature detection, sonar ...). Why do we want to play a game where we felt like gods?
I remember I had this discussion 308 with one of the creative directors of the series, 308 Maxime Béland, several years ago during a presentation of Splinter Cell Conviction in Montreal at Ubisoft invited us and in which the subject came Sunglasses night vision. If you remember, the gadget by definition of Sam Fisher disappeared in that installment of the series, like me, for good, and made the game to adapt to changing times.
Béland told me they had come to the conclusion that if there was no game included the famous night-vision goggles. Where was the challenge for the player if at any time he could know the position of the enemy in the mapping and study their movements from a position of safety? Curious, that statement of intent seems to have come to nothing. Béland 308 continues to lead the creative department of Splinter Cell, a title that in this new version back to the idea of night vision goggles to enhance infiltration.
An infiltration has no need of this item. We saw in the past Conviction, a game that tested the player but also allowed him to go through a number of scenarios without being detected. Personally, I missed the night vision goggles at any time since in other installments of the series I made extensive use of them, which took away the emotion issue. You put them on, you control your opponents at a distance, and traces an action plan. Easy and simple.
Another infiltration saga, Metal Gear, demonstrated in the past that can be dispensed with measures to know the position of our enemies without 308 end the playability of the title in question. One of the biggest shocks in the transition 308 to Metal Gear Solid 2 Metal Gear Solid 3 was the lack of radar. Kojima technological trick played on one side (such technology was not credible in the sixties) 308 but also forced the player to look around the stage beans. After a few hours of confusion, I took control and still think Snake Eater is one of the best games I've 308 thrown in my face a gamer resume.
That said, do not let that blind us review because it looks like a great game Blacklist capitalized thanks in part to what point the video that accompanies this text: the multiple options when addressing a scenario offered freedom to the player and you will for a replayable title component. The idea of progress through the levels without getting caught is more than exciting. With a launch planned for August, has the makings of hidden hit every summer.
I woke up stuck with a MSX plugged Antarctic Adventure and yesterday I went to bed after saving humanity with Shepard. Between half? Almost thirty years of video games and too many vices and a request: that Sony change once design Dual Shock!
